Comfort And Design
The self-centering X design is meant to cradle your head and keep it from sliding off the pillow, which is a common nuisance with blow-up pillows. Its 4" x 3" packed dimensions mean it'll fit in just about any nook or cranny, making it a dream for those counting every ounce and cubic inch. While competing pillows like the Therm-a-Rest compressible options offer more comfort, they often weigh two or three times as much and take up way more space.
Compatibility And Noise
The Pillow X is designed to fit snugly inside the hood of most mummy sleeping bags, which helps keep it in place, especially if you're a restless sleeper. This is a plus, as it tends to slide around on smoother surfaces otherwise. Be warned though: the material is known for a crinkly, noisy crunch every time you shift, which might disturb light sleepers or your tent-mates.
Material And Durability
Klymit uses a 30D stretch polyester on top for a bit of give, but it can still feel rough against sensitive skin and, frankly, is quite noisy when you move. The bottom, however, is a much tougher 75D polyester, which means it's pretty resistant to punctures and tears when it's sitting on rough ground. The 'D' stands for denier, which is a measure of fabric thickness — higher denier means a thicker, more durable fabric.
Inflation And Adjustability
You can inflate this pillow with just 2-3 breaths, which is super fast when you're tired at the end of a long day. It allows you to fine-tune the firmness by adding or releasing air, letting you dial in your personal preference.
